Brian MacFarlane launched his 2012 presentation Sanctification… In Search Of at his mas camp on Rosalino Street, Woodbrook. The band features the colours of the flag: red, representing blood, black representing darkness and white representing unity. MacFarlane said the presentation represents the crime, violence and State of Emergency and is the final chapter after Resurrection in 2010 and Humanity Circle of Life in 2011.
In an hour-long presentation, MacFarlane depicted the fight of good over evil as he emerged from a hole in the centre of the stage and fought with a character representing evil, eventually claiming victory to unveil the ten sections of Santification. The sections are: Aphotic (having no light, darkness), Luxuria (self indulgent, sexual desire, lust – one of the deadly sins), Annihilation (destruction of life, war, murder); Hades (ruler of the underworld); Salacious (lustful, obscene, grossly indecent; lecherous (erotically suggestive, inciting to lust); Sheol (departed spirits, lost souls), Benevolence (goodwill, desire to do good); Jubilation (celebration, joy or exultation) and Patrioteer (flag waver, lover of country, loyalist).
Guests, who were asked to dress in black for the occasion, had to rely on sketches, as there were no live models to showcase the costumes.
MacFarlane said while his band will be on the road on Monday and Tuesday, he will not be participating in any competition.
