I love dogs and I am scared of them (weird but true), however, I believe that ALL dogs should be properly leashed and secured. Including those damn handbag-sized dog.

I think it is necessary for government to take a firm position towards regulating and monitoring owners of dangerous dogs cause clearly not everyone is fit to have them. The problem truly is the owners, not the dogs themselves. But at the same time, I have to admit I am terribly scared of them and have to wonder if the benefits of having them are even worth the risk considering what they are capable of. Anxious to hear more about what the new law entails exactly....

It’s about time they take to long to bring this bill in to law

The range should have been wider, not sure about the fine, it seems a bit harsh but then again there have been some deaths due to dog attacks.

There is no such thing as a dangerous dog, I do believe that there are dangerous owners....they have unsecured premises and don't know how to take care of these dogs because a pitbull is veryyyyy loyal. One should be able to rear and breed pitbulls but they should have a license to do so and should meet the criteria of same. As for the gov't they need to stop copying and pasting others ppl's regulations and trying to pass it off as their own, if you look at the UK Act it is very similar. Be original and make it applicable to T&T....we like to talk the talk but the powers that be don't know jack about enforcing the law...

What about us responsible dog owners? Those who actually ensure that our fences are in place and properly secure, muzzle and train our dogs? I own a Rottweilwer. It hasn't been listed yet but wouldn't he surprised if it is. Honestly, I don't mind paying the insurance. I do agree that something drastically needs to be done to protect these incidents of dog attacks and maulings. However, I hope this law isn't abused. The spaying and neutering part and the non-importation is an attempt to stamp out the breeds listed. I do not think that this part was absolutely necessary. The law should have had provisions to ensure that those dogs are properly trained by registered dog trainers. We have vehicle inspection, why not something for dogs to ensure they are trained on a regular basis? It is not the dog’s fault, it is the owner's responsibility. If properly trained and cared for, the dog can be a great tool for security, and not an untamed, wild beast. I enjoy the much needed security my rottie provides. But we can't get guns and drugs off our streets do you guys really think this law will stop what it is supposed to? Like any other law, if it ain't enforced, it will fail. I'll believe it when I see it.
