Shurwayne Winchester will be the only local artiste on the celebrity line-up of performers, which will include R&B crooner Brian Mc Night, British Grammy awardee Estelle and regional artistes Konshens and Baby Cham. Winchester will perform in an ensemble created by Meiling’s menswear designer Anthony Reid next Friday. Winchester and Konshens have been billed together on opening night in recognition of Jamaica and T&T’s 50th anniversary independence celebrations. The offer to perform at Caribbean Fashion Week (CFW) came following Winchester’s performance with his band Y.O.U. at the Mas Camp in Jamaica earlier this year. The Tobago-born superstar enjoys a close affiliation with the land of reggae as evident by his crossover hit Wine On It and past collaborations with dancehall artistes Keida, Konshens and Mr. Vegas. Contacted by the CFW Management, Winchester jumped at the golden opportunity to showcase soca alongside international celebrities at such a high profile event. In a move to merge the dynamic worlds of fashion and soca, he opted to feature a local designer during his performance. Following the CFW appearance, Winchester will honour commitments in St. Lucia, after which he’s off to England to participate in the Ipswich Arts Festival at the end of June, before heading back up the islands for performances in St. John’s and Antigua. While in Jamaica, he will shoot a video with Mr. Vegas with whom he collaborated on his latest release Winey, Winey.
